I started my day by seeing a dead bird.
I know that sounds strange to mention, but things like that always make me sad. I even caught myself wondering, “God, why did I have to see that?” I don’t know if it means anything at all. Maybe it was just one of those reminders that we live in a broken world.
Then the day kept going…
My seller wanted signs lining her property, so I bought extra signs. She and I spent the afternoon out in this Mississippi heat with a hammer and nails, putting sign after sign on the trees.
We ran out of signs, so I went and bought more.
I came back today…
Every. Single. Sign. Was. Gone.
Y’all… I nailed those signs to the trees. They didn’t just blow away.
So there I was again, back out in the heat. It hasn’t rained in forever, so the ground is hard as concrete. Every sign felt like a workout.
Then…
I stepped right into a fire ant bed.
Not just a few ants…
They were in my socks. My shoes. Crawling up my pants.
I was about two seconds away from stripping on the side of the road. If you drove by, just know I wasn’t losing my mind…
Finally got the signs back out and headed to the tax office…
Only to hear, “Oh… " never mind ...
Some days, being self-employed isn’t the closing photos, the smiling clients, or the “Sold” signs everyone sees online.
Sometimes it’s stolen signs, fire ants, rock-hard ground, unpaid invoices, headaches, and wondering what else the day has planned.
But then I remind myself…
I get to help people. I get to provide for my family. And even on the hard days, God has always provided.
So if you happen to drive by one of my real estate signs… I’d sure appreciate you leaving it where I put it. Those signs aren’t free, and neither is the time it takes to replace them. 🪧❤️
Tomorrow is a new day… and I’ll be back at it.
