Walker Forestry & Environmental

Walker Forestry & Environmental Marty Walker Timber Management. Wildlife Management and Tree planting. I have been managing and reforesting East Texas since 1980.

I began managing timber in East Texas soon after graduating from college. I managed 22,000 acres of east Texas timberland, for what was then Lone Star Steel. I also began managing privately owned land in Texas and Arkansas. In 1989 I became an environmental specialist for the fifth largest coal mining company in America. I have managed thousands of acres of tree planting, timber management and wildlife enhancement for corporate and private interest over the last 33 years.

The most powerful climate technology on Earth was never engineered in a lab. Trees naturally pull carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and lock it into their trunks, roots, and surrounding soil for decades or even centuries.

A single mature tree can absorb roughly 20–25 kilograms of CO₂ per year while releasing oxygen, cooling the air through shade and evaporation, and stabilizing local temperatures. Forests act as massive, self-sustaining climate regulators.

Beyond carbon capture, trees protect soil from erosion, regulate water cycles, and create habitats for countless species. Healthy forests improve rainfall patterns and reduce the severity of floods and droughts.

While advanced carbon-capture machines cost millions and require constant energy, trees run entirely on sunlight and rain. Their efficiency comes from billions of years of natural optimization.

Protecting existing forests and restoring degraded land may be one of the fastest and most cost-effective climate actions available today. Sometimes progress means scaling what already works, not replacing it.

GREAT NEWS FOR LANDOWNERS AND FOREST LANDOWNERS!

Today the Texas Forest Service announced the Texas Resilient Forest Incentive Program, TreFIP. This will provide multiple and significant incentives for tree planting and timber management in the East Texas counties. I will provide full details later today.
