I ran into a neighbor this weekend walking our newest temporary dog, Kya, and she was telling me about all the work happening in her house due to a leak that came up through her toilet. Water got all into the floors and drywall, so she was in the midst of a huge project.
I've had this on my to-do list for a while but today I finally made the call to my insurance company to make SURE my home is insured for those water emergencies. Luckily, my neighbor's was!
Make sure you're ready for those water disasters, and also consider getting Buried Utilities coverage! I added that as well. The plumbing underneath my house was covered under my current policy, but I just added the Buried Utilities Line/Service Line coverage (another better late than never add). This add makes sure that my main service line between the road and my house in the yard is covered. In my neighborhood, this is a must do! My pipes are copper and strong, but they're also 40 years old, so I'm happy I finally got around to doing that!!!
Give a call to your insurance company and make sure you're covered in the areas most important.
