Racial and harassing posts on social media.
In response to an increase of racial and harassing posts on social media, the NAR Professional Standards Committee has passed recommendations to the NAR Executive Committee and the Board of Directors that will be acted upon at the upcoming NAR Conference in early November.
According to Bruce Aydt -- highly-regarded authority on the NAR Code of Ethics -- “Assuming adoption by the Board of Directors, the Code of Ethics will clearly state that REALTORS must not use harassing speech, hate speech, epithets or slurs based on the protected classes stated in Article 10. In addition, there will be an Appendix in the Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual that explains these terms for Hearing Panels and members.”
Bruce will be giving the presentation at the Professional Standards Forum on November 2 and it will be live-streamed so anyone can “attend”.
