Doing an 11 month warranty inspection today and found this example of an “almost” hidden example of bad workmanship.
This is a soffit vent and instead of cutting a proper hole they just beat it out with a hammer! All 21 soffit vents …

Nothing could go wrong here! It appeared someone hung the metal cased sprayer hose over this unsecured outlet! I took the hose off and made sure the seller understood this needed to be repaired asap! First time home home buyer is very happy after her inspection. A really good house for a really nice client!
The inspection process can be a very nerve racking time, no house is perfect. The report can seem a bit overwhelming as there is never any good comments.
At JBair Home Inspections I love first time buyers, I like to make sure they understand the workings of their new home, talk to them about upkeep and maintaining their purchases. As Governor Abbott has declared Real Estate to be an essential service for the greater good of the people, I want everyone to know I am available under certain circumstances to do home inspections. Loose outlets are one of the more frequently found items I see in many homes. Often it is just from years of use and sometimes the outlet just wasn’t installed correctly. Either way it’s a quick fix and makes for a safer home. At JBair Home Inspections you and your families safety is always my first priority when I inspect a home.

Electrical switches and outlets that move around because the box is too recessed can be a safety problem. Outlet shims offer a quick and inexpensive solution.
