For parents and caregivers raising a child with special needs, planning for the future can bring meaningful peace of mind.

Life insurance may help provide funds for ongoing care, daily support, education, housing, and other future needs if a parent or caregiver dies. Coverage can be part of a broader plan designed around your child’s unique needs and your family’s circumstances.

How it works:
• Consider the financial support your child may need over time.
• Review coverage options, beneficiaries, and how a policy may fit into your overall care plan.
• Speak with a licensed insurance professional and qualified legal or financial advisers before making decisions.

This post is for general education only and is not financial, legal, or tax advice. Policy availability, costs, benefits, and eligibility vary by person and insurer.

Life insurance policies often involve three different roles:

• Policy owner: The person who owns the policy and generally controls important decisions, such as updates or changes, subject to the policy terms.

• Insured person: The person whose life is covered by the policy.

• Beneficiary: The person or people who may receive the policy benefit if it becomes payable.

These roles can be held by different people. Take a moment to confirm who controls the policy, whose life is covered, and who may receive the benefit. Understanding each role can help prevent confusion later.

Rules, rights, benefits, and policy terms vary by insurer and policy. Quotes are not guarantees or offers. This is general education, not financial, legal, or tax advice.

Sinkhole awareness matters for every Florida homeowner.

Florida’s limestone/karst terrain makes it one of the U.S.’s most sinkhole-prone states. Activity is common in west-central Florida (Pasco, Hernando, Hillsborough, Polk) and parts of Central Florida, but can occur elsewhere.

Watch for cracks in walls, floors, or driveways; sticking doors/windows; sinking, uneven, or sagging ground; circular yard depressions; or cloudy/muddy well or pond water.

If signs appear, don’t panic: photograph, document, and monitor changes; consult a licensed geotechnical engineer or soil specialist; and check your county. Direct rain/sprinkler runoff away from the foundation, fix leaks, maintain gutters/downspouts, and avoid concentrating water near the house.

Insurance: standard homeowners policies generally don’t cover sinkhole damage. Florida law requires catastrophic ground collapse coverage; separate sinkhole coverage may be available for an added premium. Ask an agent about coverage, deductibles, and exclusions: https://floridacarandhome.com/

Insurance terms don’t have to feel complicated: especially when you’re self-employed.

Here are four essentials every real estate professional, loan officer, mortgage company, and real estate investor should understand:

Premium: The amount you pay for your insurance policy.

Deductible: The amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance begins covering a covered claim.

Coverage limit: The maximum amount your policy will pay for a covered loss.

Exclusion: A situation, cause of loss, or type of damage your policy does not cover.

Understanding these terms can help you compare options more confidently and choose coverage that fits your work and responsibilities.
