So what makes a great real estate agent? If you're like most people, buying or selling a home is the most expensive financial transaction you'll ever make. And for that reason, with so much money on the line, it's important that you have a great agent to represent you. I believe there are three main areas that make an agent great at what they do...I call them the three pillars of a great agent. Let's review:

Pillar 1 - Competency as a real estate agent. Does your agent know the real estate business inside and out? In fact, do they know the business so well that if an unexpected obstacle pops up, he/she will know how to handle it? (unexpected obstacles happen all the time in this business by the way)

Pillar 2 - Integrity and Trustworthiness. Can you trust your agent to put your best interest first? Even before their own? As a fiduciary, your agent MUST put your best interest first, but oftentimes I've seen agents put their own interests above their client's.

Pillar 3 - An outstanding level of service. Have a question at 10:00 PM on a Saturday night, so you text your agent? If you text me at that hour, I'll more than likely respond that same night. If I can't answer your question right away, I want you to know I'm on it the next day.

It's these three pillars that I strive for every day and it's the reason I love this line of work so much. Yes, as a realtor, I understand why some people have a low opinion of realtors. But also as a realtor, I have a better understanding of WHY people feel that way, as I have an insider look at the industry and see how many realtors operate behind the scenes. And frankly, I pride myself on being the opposite of them.
