Senate Joint Resolution 2-F and Senate Bill 4-F provides for the increase of the homestead exemption from the current $50,000 structure to $150,000 that would begin Jan. 1, 2027, and to $250,000 beginning Jan. 1, 2028. The increased homestead exemption applies to county, municipal, school district, and special district levies.
For Plantation, the estimated $14 million dollar loss in FY2028 and $23 million loss in FY2029 will mean the reduction or elimination of services. Impacts would include public works, parks and recreation, code enforcement and many other city services, as well as future investment in public safety.
These funds pay for the things that make Plantation great, like programming at our community centers, library and museum, park, sports field, landscape, sidewalk and roadway maintenance.
