Sometimes supporting someone in recovery means walking beside them through battles that have nothing to do with addiction. And when someone becomes part of the Rise & Recover family, we want them to know they do not have to face life’s hardest seasons alone!
To protect her privacy, we will only be sharing her first name, Leslie. Leslie has been a wonderful long-term resident in our Overcomers Housing, and we have had the privilege of watching her continue to grow, rebuild her life, and stay determined in her fight for long-term recovery.
Now, Leslie is facing a completely different kind of fight.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer and recently underwent a double mastectomy. Because of her health and treatment, she is currently unable to work, and there is no clear timeline for when she will be able to return.
Cancer does not discriminate. It does not care about your story, your past, how far you have come, or how hard you have already fought to get where you are.
Leslie has worked incredibly hard for the life she has today. During a time when her focus needs to be on healing, we would love to help take away some of the financial stress that comes with being unable to work.
Leslie’s Overcomer’s rent is $150 per week, and we have created a donation link specifically for her through our nonprofit Zeffy account. Every donation made through this link will go directly toward Leslie’s rent and expenses while she is unable to work. Donations made through the link will also receive a receipt for tax purposes.
