Someone I know got a surprise call from the water company: her toilet had been running nonstop. By the time it was caught, it had cost her over $2,000 in wasted water. 😳

Here’s how to check yours:
🔎 Listen → A steady trickling or hissing sound = red flag
💧 Peek in the tank → If water is overflowing into the center tube, it’s leaking
🎨 Do the food coloring test → Add a few drops of food coloring to the tank (just don’t use yellow). Wait 15 minutes—if the color shows up in the bowl, you’ve got a leak

👉 The fix is often as simple as replacing the flapper, adjusting the float, or calling a plumber. And calling a plumber is way cheaper than letting the water (and your money) go down the drain.

📌 Homeownership Tip: Don’t make the same $2,000 mistake. If you ever hear or notice a running toilet, deal with it right away—you’ll save money, stress, and water.
