It’s taken a little while but we’ve finally gotten the door we uncovered in the basement open! A few of the progress photos below with last photo of the open door! A few of the late 1800’s fire maps show structures behind the building so we suspect these used to be exterior stairs. Step, spring and padlock still intact! Spring still worked! More to come as demo continues!! .

On this day in 1865, The Old Continentals gave a concert at Miller's Hall. Their show included vocal performances, comic songs and sometimes Yankee skits. Performance groups in this era sometimes used the "share" system where they received a portion of the nightly profits instead of a set wage - wonder if that's why there was no half price tickets offered 🤔

On May 22, 1863, another Panorama was exhibited at Miller's Hall - this one was J. Incso Williams' Panorama of The Bible. Williams gained a reputation of a panoramist for his 1849 painting representing the creation to the fall of Babylon. This was the 2nd one he created (the first was destroyed by fire) - this one on 4,000 yards of canvas! Give J. Incso Williams a google - he is from near Dayton, lived in Ohio for a number of years and painted 3 well known Panorama's - all widely exhibited.

What a fun group to tour around the building! Thank you Main Street Delaware, Inc. for adding us as a stop!
