Nobody mentions this... a multigenerational home needs more than extra bedrooms.

A house can look perfect online and still feel stressful once three generations are living under one roof.

The homes that work best usually have a few important features in common:

1. Private living zones
Everyone needs a place to retreat. Separate bedrooms are important, but so are quiet areas where each generation can relax without feeling crowded.

2. A main-level bedroom and full bathroom
This can make everyday life much easier for an aging parent and may help the home continue working as mobility needs change.

3. More than one gathering space
One living room for everyone sounds great until different schedules, TV preferences, homework, work calls, and quiet time all happen at once.

Here’s the real truth... our Colorado community taught me something this month that I don’t want to forget.

Real estate may be what I do, but the more conversations I have with homeowners, families, neighbors, and local business owners, the more I’m reminded that home is about so much more than a house.

This month, I was reminded that people care deeply about:

Staying connected to the communities they already love
Living closer to family when life starts changing
Having a home that feels easier to manage, not just bigger
Supporting the local businesses that make our neighborhoods feel like our neighborhoods
Understanding their options before they’re forced to make a decision quickly

And one thing keeps coming up again and again:

Most people don’t want to be pressured into a move. They want clarity.

They want someone to listen first.

They want to understand what their home may be worth, what their choices are, and what the next chapter could realistically look like.

That’s something I take personally because I think about my own family too.

If it were my parents sitting across the table, I’d want them to feel heard, respected, and completely comfortable taking things at their own pace.

Colorado continues to remind me that real estate isn’t just about property.

It’s about people, transitions, memories, community, and what comes next.
