I just replied to a post from someone that mentioned ERMI evaluation as a tool to evaluate the indoor environment and I felt the need to start educating people on the reality of the ERMI evaluation sent out by laboratories. Please understand that the ERMI is the evaluation of a qPCR sample that quite frankly most people have never heard or just plane dont understand.
The ERMI evaluation used by labs is B.S. science and should not be used as such. Even the EPA that came up with this system of analysis admitted in a letter that the ERMI was never intended to be used by the general public (I.E.P.) as a critical use tool to properly evaluate the indoor environment. Just so the general public understands, the ERMI (as inaccurate as it is) is evaluating a sample called qPCR ( Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction ). The database method for evaluating samples of this type is the only reliable system but is not understood or used due to its complex method and the time it takes for documentation of each sample and for each type and category of sample. The database method is not new. I used this method for over 25 years and all top PhDs and scientists have used this method for many disciplines for decades. I have taught the database method for many years but Unfortunately 99% of people relying on the ERMI evaluation report handed out by laboratories is misleading. Also, laboratories that sell text kits for "ERMI" samples to be collected by the homeowners and collected using a cloth is pure bu****it and simply a money maker for them. Unfortunately the majority of people performing indoor environmental inspections have never been trained properly nor do they have any legitimate certification that shows knowledge and experience. The only legitimate certifications are the C.I.H. (trademark) And the certifications awarded by The American Council for Accredited Certifications (A.C.A.C.) ACAC is the gold standard a d recognized as such across the world. I.E.P.s and homeowners need to get better informed about what they are doing and believe.
