The dirt work at The Trails at Silver Creek has sparked plenty of attention from local residents—young and old alike. These future heavy equipment operators brought their own excavators out to inspect the progress and make sure everything was being done right.

A big thank you to Rittmer Inc. for the outstanding work they've done preparing the site. Their team has been instrumental in turning a soybean field last summer into a neighborhood that is quickly coming to life.

We're excited to keep the momentum going and appreciate everyone who has followed along so far!

🚧 Exciting progress at the development! 🚧

Trail paving is underway as improvements are made on the 4th Street trail extension and the southern trail connection into the housing development. Yesterday, crews laid the first layer of hot mix asphalt. The trail will reopen soon with fresh paint, reconnecting access from the east into the Westbrook trail system.

Later this year, the trail will be extended from the housing development down to 1st Street, then run just north of the railroad tracks and loop back to connect to the southeast corner of Westbrook Park. 🌳

Thank you all for your patience as the crews have waited for the right conditions to complete this work. We’re excited to see it come together!

We truly appreciate everyone's patience as work continues along the trail near the new neighborhood. We are just as excited as you are for it to be reopened! 🚧🌳

Approximately 400 feet of existing trail along 4th Street was raised to keep it dry and improve long-term stormwater drainage. If weather cooperates, this section of trail will be paved in late April as the asphalt plant reopens.

Looking ahead to this summer, our team is excited to be working with the city to add another 4,000 feet of paved trail, creating a large loop that connects back to Westbrook and strengthens the already great trail network in DeWitt.

Last week's progress, shown in the video, included clearing the path for this new trail addition.

We're most excited about what this adds for the community in the long run-and we look forward to enjoying the finished result as a broader community. Thank you for sticking with us! 🚴🏽‍♂️🚶🏽‍♀️🌲
