We find that, when it comes to buying large tracts of beautiful wilderness, some buyers are looking for more space for their family. They want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, but they don't want to do without the conveniences or proximity to some of those major services. Privacy, space, and a slower pace of life call to them...but so does the opportunity to run into town for groceries or to take the kids to school.

Horsethief Ridge is just the right fit. Located 8 miles east of Cascade, with just 4 exclusive homesites, this is where your family will want to put down roots. Tracts range from 10 to 23+/- acres, with deer and bald eagles as your closest neighbors.

Our team would love to show you what life at Horsethief Ridge could look like. For more information and to schedule a tour, head to our site: https://dfdevelopmentllc.com/communities/horsethief-ridge/

Zoom into Idaho. Keep going. A little farther. There.

Horsethief Ridge sits about eight miles east of Cascade, with four homesites ranging from roughly 10 to 23 acres. The satellite view can show you where it is. This is what you find when you get down on the ground.

Summer may be winding down, but there’s still plenty happening around Valley County. We've assembled a calendar that is packed with local events, community gatherings, and a few good reasons to get out and enjoy the last stretch of summer.

We love living here, and part of that is supporting the events and people that make this community what it is. Take a look at the calendar, and if you see something we missed, let us know in the comments. We’ll get it added so everyone can find it.

Whatever was under there had Bakken’s full attention. He dug, sniffed, reconsidered the approach, and went right back in.

We never did get a formal report, but based on the effort, we’re assuming it was important.

Local fire departments are part of the infrastructure that keeps rural Idaho moving. DF Development recently made donations to Cascade Rural Fire Protection District, Centerville Fire District, Donnelly Rural Fire Protection District, Friends of Placerville Fire Department, McCall Professional Firefighters Local 4564, and Meadows Valley Rural Fire District.

These crews know the roads, terrain, and realities of responding in remote areas. Supporting them is one practical way to invest in the communities where we live and work.

In the Boise Basin, restoring forestland doesn’t end when damaged trees are removed. Replanting helps rebuild future tree cover, stabilize soil, and restore wildlife habitat over time.

The results won’t appear overnight, but stewardship means doing the hard things now so future generations inherit healthier, more resilient land. For DF Development, that’s the work.

The Head of Exploration operates under a strict no-desk policy.

Today’s responsibilities included covering ground, checking the brush, and reporting anything suspicious directly to the nearest human. Compensation remains heavily treat-based.

Wayback Wednesday to Bakken’s first days of fieldwork.

Smaller paws. Same determination. Considerably less dignity around mud.

The Head of Exploration title came later, but the qualifications were already there.

It's hard to stand on raw land and picture the finished home. For buyers looking at Legacy Creek Ranch, and the agents helping them evaluate it, that's the hard part: knowing what off-grid living here actually looks like.

So we're building one. DF Development is putting up a fully off-grid cabin at Legacy Creek Ranch. Roughly 1,000 square feet, one bedroom, its own well and solar, built to live on independently.

Day one is just raw ground and a blank canvas. Over the coming weeks we'll follow the build from start to finish, right here.

Follow along for each build log.

Sound on.

No narration today. Just moving water, wind through the timber, birds in the distance, and a minute away from everything competing for your attention.

Stay as long as you need.
