It started with...

Larry came to us needing to sell his longtime friend’s home to cover his healthcare costs. He was the trustee for the owner and had not bought or sold a home in a very long time. Let alone for someone else as their power of attorney.

It turned into...

There was confusion as to how the whole process even worked. From initial decisions on when to list the home, what price to sell for and how all the contracts worked.

By the time Larry called me...

He was ready to get the process going but was still unclear as to how it all worked.

But the real issue wasn’t the house…

He needed to be sure he maximized the return on the sale as the funds were going to care for his friend who was now in memory care. The house was left in quite a state of disrepair on top of everything else.

So we didn’t just find help him sell the property…

We focused on getting the house emptied out, finding people who would handle the contents, getting rid of two vehicles, and coordinated how the closing would work given that Larry would not be in town during two previously scheduled vacations.

We found that…

To avoid a feeling of overwhelm, e really needed clear step by step explanation of how the sale process would go from beginning to end. We also had to familiarize him with the documents and the electronic signing process.

The result?

We were able to get the home on the market quickly, received multiple offers and closed the sale in two weeks! But the biggest thing is we arranged it around his out of town schedule and everything went off perfectly.

The lesson?

It’s not always about the end result. It’s usually about managing the process to help a home seller understand all the components of the sale - which are often a case by case basis.

Is Saugatuck your happy place?

You’ve probably been coming to the area for years because you love the incredible summer weather, the charm of Saugatuck / Douglas, and the general inclusive, friendly atmosphere of the whole area.
