1. Check Your Credit Score

Most landlords look for a score above 620. If yours needs work, start by paying down debt and checking your credit report for errors.

2. Gather Proof of Income

Be ready to show pay stubs, bank statements, or tax returns that prove you can comfortably cover rent (usually 3x the monthly rent).

3. Have Your Deposit and First Month’s Rent Ready

You will be required to pay the first month’s rent and a security deposit (usually equal to one month’s rent). If you have pets, you’ll likely have to pay a pet deposit as well.
