Radon systems are not “set it and forget it.”
If you have a radon mitigation system, it should be retested periodically to confirm it is still keeping levels down. If your home has never been tested, the EPA recommends testing because radon cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted.
The EPA identifies radon as the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers — so this is one of those boring-but-important homeowner maintenance items.
