Whenever I'm off island people I talk with ask, "what's it like to live there during the winter?" At Thanksgiving I talked with a man, a summer and Thanksgiving visitor, who said that Thanksgiving is the sweet spot, after the tourists leave and before the darkness and abyss of a Vineyard winter...he's so out of touch. Winter here is precious.
