My amazingly sweet client from today, who has waited patiently for me to inspect her home, has been having very high anxiety. She has reached the point of panic attacks and it’s affecting her daily life.

We found some small areas in her home, but nothing that would make sense. Even the HVAC itself looked pretty decent. I had to go back out to the car to get my ratchet set because I couldn’t get the plenums to open due to the plumbing being in front of both of them. (It’s always the plumbing am I right?)

So imagine her excitement when she found the smoking gun that has been making her sick. And while not cheap, this is a fixable issue and she’s excited to get started so she can get her health back. Imagine her frustration when her husband doesn’t understand the situation. We see this happen all the time in the mold industry. One spouse can be sick or one person in the entire house can be sick, and the rest don’t want to believe that it’s from the mold.

There have been studies that say when it’s just the spouse that’s sick, the family members don’t always take it seriously. But when it’s one of the children, they usually take it more seriously.

So tonight this wife wants me to put this out there… so here we are… what are your thoughts?

Normal or not normal?

This is a really hard decision to make, but I need to step back and be a mom more than a business owner for a few weeks until we figure out what’s going on with Luke. As his blood sugar dips, we can get him back up, but it’s the staying up that’s hard. We know this is a hormone issue at this point, but we still have a lot of testing ahead of him. With all the unknowns, I’m going to take a waitlist approach to my business.

I chose to do this because I see the people who really understand what I bring to the table, and then I see the people who aren’t ready for the level of investigation and understanding of building science and biology that comes with hiring me. So if you’re wanting an air sample, or to fix one wall, there are plenty of people out there than can help while I’m out. But for bigger investigations, I WANT to help you. I don’t want to pass over your emails, etc. So, if you’re willing to wait a few weeks, please send an email to [email protected] with “waitlist” in the subject. Tell me what’s going on, send me any previous data you have, and I’ll be happy to help you as soon as possible.

I appreciate all of you for understanding.

Best way to end a long day at work is a swim in the neighborhood pond… -Molly and Zoey

So proud of Molly for this tag today. As someone who is deathly afraid of heights, I wasn’t sure if she would be able to get over to this spot, but as we walked up the stairs, she immediately walked over to this wall and tagged.

Also, is this not the cutest little book nook?!

Sometimes you can’t unsee the issue once you find it, and this client was surprised to find out the home was built below grade causing water to slowly find its way inside the home and wick its way up the walls surrounding the house. Full story to come.

Something we find every day in Oklahoma. This is a major issue and I love that he did a video on this!

Environmental issues…. we need to care about the people more than infrastructure

TROUBLING TREND: At least six children in one California community have been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare bone cancer that primarily strikes adolescents and young adults.

The cluster in Ladera Ranch has prompted environmental soil and water testing, a state health review, and a request from federal prosecutors for an EPA investigation into possible environmental factors.

No specific cause has been identified, and health officials say no confirmed genetic or environmental link to Ewing sarcoma is known to exist.

I use this account to bring awareness sometimes to Nathan’s metabolic disorder. I do this bc just like with mold toxicity, we have had to fight doctors left and right for answers. With the ACADS gene and SCAD you cannot catch the disorder unless he is in actual crisis mode, ie: he’s already badly acidic.

Nathan has been begging to play football. I told him he could try the easiest program we could find, so we decided on I-9. We did this bc it would be less stressful on his body. Well, Saturday rolls around and he plays an amazing game but as he’s getting out of the car at home he throws up twice and goes pale white. I beg him to let me take him to get an IV but he refused and was not in a state to allow me to. So I begged him Sunday and he again fought with me. This morning he was so pale and begged me to take him to get an IV. For this specifically he gets dextrose and sodium bicarbonate depending on the severity. It always makes him 100 times better. Dr Polan has told us Nathan clinically presents with metabolic acidosis but she doesn’t have a metabolic team to help us, so we have been relying on OU to come through for us. It has taken multiple ER visits to get them to take a deeper dive into this, and a realization that I’ve probably studied this gene and its effects more than they will in their lifetime.

So my point is, why do we have to keep fighting with doctors to get answers for our bodies? Why are they not looking at things from a while body standpoint rather than tiny labs at a blip in time? The AMA needs to do a better job of training doctors on root cause illness, and just like in the mold industry, people need to set aside their egos and take the time to sit with the client or patient and listen to the whole story.

I want a team behind my child. I want to have support for him. I want a full protocol and I truly don’t think that’s too much to ask for. And just like the last time I shared his story, I’m sure I’ll have 10+ moms reach out to me whose kids have the same gene and same variant being told the same thing I am even though all of our children clinically present.
