Don’t Let This Happen Above Your Water Heater!
Check out this photo—what you’re seeing is a classic case of electrolysis damage caused by dissimilar metals in your plumbing system it only took 4 years for a brand new pipe to completely break down. When copper, galvanized steel, or brass are connected without proper dielectric fittings, an electrical reaction occurs. Over time, this can eat away at your pipes, leading to major leaks and costly water damage.
This pipe was removed from above a water heater and shows clear signs of corrosion and thread deterioration—a silent disaster in the making.
