Northern Kentucky’s housing industry is making its voice heard in Washington.

Members of the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky recently traveled to Capitol Hill for the NAHB Legislative Conference, joining more than 1,100 housing professionals from across the country to advocate for policies that support housing affordability, workforce development, and economic growth.

During meetings with Kentucky’s congressional delegation, our members shared firsthand how workforce shortages, permitting delays, rising development costs, and housing supply challenges are impacting Northern Kentucky communities.

These conversations help ensure that federal policymakers understand the real-world challenges facing builders, trade contractors, developers, suppliers, and the families striving to achieve homeownership.

By bringing Northern Kentucky’s voice to Washington, we continue advocating for attainable housing, a stronger skilled trades workforce, streamlined regulations, and policies that support the growth of our region.

What a week at Trades Summer Camp!

Our campers got hands-on experience exploring the skilled trades through plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and welding activities. From learning how things are built to trying out real-world techniques, students gained valuable exposure to career pathways that help build our communities every day.

A special thank you to Pella Windows & Doors and Custom Distributors for sponsoring this year's camp and helping make these opportunities possible for the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

We're proud to inspire future builders, makers, and problem-solvers!

Roads are more than pavement, they are the foundation of growth.

Every new neighborhood, business park, school, and employment center begins with infrastructure. Without roads, sanitary sewer, and water service, development simply cannot move forward. And when development stops, so do opportunities for new housing, jobs, and economic investment.

As communities across Northern Kentucky continue to grow, transportation planning and infrastructure investments remain critical to supporting our workforce, housing needs, and long-term economic success.

"Roads are not just transportation assets, they are economic development assets. Without adequate infrastructure, growth stalls, housing becomes more difficult to deliver, and employers have fewer opportunities to expand and invest in our region." — Brian Miller, Executive Vice President, BIA Northern Kentucky

What causes promising development projects to stall or fail entirely during civil review?

Join us on Wednesday, June 17, from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM for the next Land Development Council meeting as we tackle one of the industry's most important and often frustrating challenges: "Why Projects Die in Civil Review."

Lunch will be served as we hear from a panel of industry experts who will share real-world insights, common pitfalls, and practical strategies for navigating the review process more effectively:

• Michelle Bollman, Senior Design Engineer & Vice President – Engineering, Viox & Viox
• Mark Brueggemann, North Midwest Division Leader, Verdantas
• Mike Willenbrink, PE, Principal Civil Engineer, Bayer Becker

Whether you're a developer, engineer, contractor, utility representative, or municipal professional, this discussion will provide valuable perspectives on what causes projects to get stuck and what it takes to keep them moving forward.

Seating is limited to just 25 attendees, so be sure to reserve your spot early. To register, please email [email protected].

We look forward to seeing you there!
