Stay informed on the policies and workforce initiatives shaping the future of Kentucky’s construction industry.

Join us on Monday, September 28, from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM for our next State & Local Government Meeting as we discuss the Kentucky Construction Workforce Blueprint- a proposed framework designed to expand access to skilled trades training, strengthen workforce pathways, and address workforce shortages across the Commonwealth. The blueprint focuses on creating new opportunities for students pursuing careers in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other essential trades.

The Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky is advocating for a practical solution to ongoing HVAC installation challenges related to NEC 210.8(F).

A letter was submitted to the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction requesting an extension of the current alternative compliance method for HVAC equipment. Contractors continue to experience compatibility issues between HVAC systems and GFCI protection, resulting in nuisance tripping that can unexpectedly leave homeowners without heating or cooling.

The request would allow the continued use of standard breakers for affected HVAC equipment while manufacturers work toward a permanent industry solution.

BIA NKY remains committed to advocating for common-sense policies that support contractors, homeowners, and reliable housing infrastructure across Kentucky.
