Last week’s Housing as a Human Right conference was time well spent. I enjoyed Professor Balakrishnan Rajagopal’s keynote, the panels, and the conversations in between.

Thank you to Taiisa Kelly and the Monarch Housing Associates team for a great event. It was good to hear Craig Sawyer of Poiema Development Group, connect with Jerrod Delanie of the Delanie Companies, and see Attorney Bakari Lee and Malcolm Thorpe again.

I met some wonderful women there. Looking forward to staying connected and continuing these conversations about housing in New Jersey.

My FIRST DCRE — Diversity in Commercial Real Estate Conference NY — and wow, what an experience.

Black professionals make up only about 6% of the commercial real estate industry. That’s the gap Adeola Adejobi and her Avant-Garde Network , DCRE team are closing — room by room, door by door. I felt it firsthand in the Careers in Commercial Real Estate session, which broke down real entry points and in this industry.

Being surrounded by trailblazers doing THE work — opening doors and showing up for their communities — that stayed with me. 💫

So grateful for my first year in this space. Here’s to the continued rise of DCRE and AGN.
