From the creators at The Palace Players comes a sweeping, funny, magical story inspired by classic fairytales and Disney-style storytelling — brought to life on stage with unforgettable characters, theatrical magic, music, comedy, and heart.
What if “happily ever after” wasn’t a choice? In a whimsical fairy-tale kingdom where true love is the law, every young woman must find her destined match by her eighteenth birthday… or have one assigned to her. When Goldi, an unremarkable village girl content with her simple life, refuses to play by these rules, she is forced beyond the safety of the village and into a world of danger, magic curses, and bears (oh my!). As Goldi begins to question everything she believes about love, destiny, and fairy-tale endings, the world she left behind begins to catch up with her.
Filled with humor, adventure, romance, and a haunting fairy tale mystery, Golden is a darkly funny, genre-twisting musical that dismantles classic fairy-tale romance and asks what happens after the fairy tale, and whether anyone can truly escape their Ever After. You won't want to miss it!
Suggested Age Range: All Ages! (While inspired by classic animated fairy tales, the story also includes moments of danger, villainy, implied violence, and darker themes. Parents of very young children should be aware that the show may be more intense at times than a traditional “innocent” fairy tale.)
