A new Costco could make shopping local much easier for Flower Mound residents. 🏪

Costco is in talks with the town to build a membership warehouse as part of the Cottonwood development, an 86-acre project between Dixon Lane and FM 407. For shoppers who’ve been driving out of town to stock up, this could be a major time saver. But before doors open, several town code hurdles still need to be worked out, including requests for nearly 100 more parking spots than typically allowed and the use of more inorganic landscaping materials than current standards permit. Costco is also seeking modifications for its signage and a waiver for the town’s roof pitch rule.

No votes have been taken yet, so there’s extra time for both sides to adjust plans and address the town’s requirements. If everything lines up, the proposed store could open as early as May 2028, bringing a sought-after retail option much closer to home. 🛒
