Lake Literary Center invites writers and readers to an evening that's equal parts workshop and inspiration. 📚

On Thursday, September 25th, the Trophic State Reading Series returns with acclaimed author Christina Kubasta. The evening begins with a ticketed three-hour writing workshop from 4 to 7 PM, followed by a free and open to the public author reading from 7 to 9 PM.

The Trophic State Reading Series brings established literary voices to Fond du Lac County, offering writers a rare opportunity to learn directly from authors who have built meaningful, lasting careers in literature. It's an experience that goes far beyond a typical reading event.

Fond du Lac's biggest one day bash returns Saturday, September 12, from 9am to 5pm, and it's bringing 15,000+ of your closest friends downtown for the 19th year running!

- Live music all day on two stages, presented by Marian University of Wisconsin and Michels Corporation

Someone once told us, "if you don't stand for something, you stand for nothing." We didn't think much of it at the time. 💚

But today, that's exactly where we landed.

We were recently contacted by a local business to help promote them. We went out, we recorded, and our team has edited.

Since then, we've been contacted by several separate former employees, individually, each sharing that they experienced sexual harassment while working there. We can't confirm their accusations ourselves, but we do take them seriously.

We don't always know a business's full story going in, and honestly, sometimes we don't know it even after. Some of what we do is one time, some grows into an ongoing relationship, and we've featured businesses before who've had rough chapters that had nothing to do with us or the work we did together.

We're not in a position to confirm nor investigate what happened. But we are in a position to decide what we put on our pages, and we won't be posting anything tied to this. We've reached out to the business directly and have issued a refund.

This isn't something we ever hoped to have to share, but we felt we needed to say something.

A thank you to those who chose to share their stories. It's not an easy thing to do.

Meet Scott. Six years in and counting at Gruett's Inc .

He's originally from Oxford. When he moved here, there wasn't even a job posted. He just kept driving by and kept calling until they hired him. That kind of persistence says a lot about a person.

Now he works on choppers day in and day out, keeping equipment running the way it should. Scheduled shop work, service calls out in the field when something needs fixing, a little change of scenery to break up the day.
