Such a delightful afternoon in Cascais meeting with a wonderful group of Sotheby’s International Realty agents and talking about something I believe is incredibly important in this business — global referral partnerships. 🌍🏡

Real estate may be local, but our relationships and our clients’ needs are increasingly global. Having trusted professionals around the world allows us to make introductions with confidence, knowing our clients will be well cared for wherever life takes them.

Portugal Sotheby’s International Realty is just one of the many offices I’m fortunate to work with through this extraordinary global network, and it was such a pleasure to strengthen those relationships in person.

This is what being part of Sotheby’s International Realty is all about — connection, collaboration, trust, and the ability to serve our clients far beyond our own market.

From South Florida to Portugal and beyond. ✨

There is so much more to Lisbon than its beautiful streets, tiled buildings and incredible views. Today we had the most wonderful tour and stepped back into the history of this remarkable city. 🇵🇹

Much of the Lisbon we see today was shaped after the devastating earthquake of 1755, followed by fires that destroyed much of the city center. Under the Marquis of Pombal, Lisbon was rebuilt with wide, orderly streets, a geometric plan and even innovative earthquake-resistant construction — incredibly forward-thinking for the 1700s. (Visit Portugal)

One of the most fascinating things we learned was something I would have walked right past without ever noticing — the old street lanterns. Their number of sides actually reflected the hierarchy of the streets and the people who worked there. Four-sided lanterns were found on streets associated with craftsmen and everyday workers, six-sided lanterns with wealthier merchants, and eight-sided lanterns along more important streets associated with nobility and major businesses. Even the grand squares, such as Rossio, could have twelve-sided lanterns. Such a small architectural detail, yet it tells an entire story about Lisbon society centuries ago. (The Portugal News)

The streets themselves were also organized according to professions and trades — shoemakers, goldsmiths, silversmiths, booksellers and many others were assigned particular streets, creating a very deliberate new order for the rebuilt city. (UNESCO World Heritage Centre)

And what made today even more special was our guide from Hotel da Baixa. His knowledge of Lisbon was absolutely impeccable. He brought the history to life and pointed out details we never would have noticed on our own.

This is exactly why I love taking a great walking tour. You stop simply looking at a beautiful city and begin to understand the stories hidden within it. ❤️🇵🇹

Arriving at Quinta da Pacheca in Portugal’s Douro Valley literally took my breath away.

There was something about looking out over the vineyards that immediately brought me back to Tuscany — those rolling hills, endless rows of vines, and that feeling of being surrounded by something timeless and beautiful.

And yet, this was different. A new country. A new landscape. A new chapter.

Standing there, taking it all in, I was reminded once again how fortunate I am to keep discovering places that make me stop, look around, and simply appreciate being alive.

The vineyards of Tuscany will always have a piece of my heart, but today the Douro Valley gave me another beautiful memory to hold onto.

Here’s to new places, familiar feelings, and continuing to celebrate this incredible life. 🇵🇹🍇❤️
