Property value notice came in and you do not have to just accept it.
In Texas, homeowners can protest their property value themselves. In most cases, the deadline is May 15 or 30 days after your notice was mailed, whichever is later. In Tarrant County, you can file online and upload supporting evidence.
A strong protest usually includes things like:
photos of damage or deferred maintenance
foundation, roof, or repair estimates
engineering reports if needed
comparable sales or value support showing why the district’s number is too high
You can absolutely do it yourself, and many owners should. Start by reviewing your notice, checking the appraisal district’s value, gathering photos and repair info, and filing before the deadline. You can also request an informal conference before the ARB hearing.
If you want help putting together a stronger value case, message me. I’m a licensed Realtor in Texas, and I can help you look at comparable market support, condition issues, and how to present your property more clearly.
Sometimes a few good photos, the right comps, and a clean explanation can make a real difference.
