The human mind and body are connected and can be affected by many things including the environment around you.
Ever thought about how your space can influence your focus?
As a working mompreneur who has worked from home with the kids for the last twelve years, finding balance between my work life and family can be tough, non existent at times. It seems that client projects, laundry, meetings, homeschool and family time seems to all run together! And boy it can be hard to focus.
This gave me a chance to see what works and what doesn’t!
First thing your environment is one of the biggest factors! A space that is distracting, dirty, overwhelming, cluttered, not pretty and doesn’t make sense, can definitely mess with a girls mojo and productivity!
Here’s 5 things to consider when creating functional spaces while working from home.
1. Set up your space to boost focus and productivity by balancing all of your senses. (If it’s clean, has flow, looks good, good lighting and smells good, then you will function better.
2. Create a mood with lighting and colors that make you feel good. Choose colors based off of the emotion you want to evoke in the space. You want to be energized and inspired choose bright yellow or orange. You want to be chill and calm choose soft greens, turquoise and blues.
3. Create multiple seating options in your space (a desk/chair, work table, a lounge area or reading nook) this gives you options in your work zone that goes with your mood that day. Maybe you just want to curl up and work from that comfy chair or you need a large table to spread things out. The key is multifunctional pieces and options!
4. Add decor and accessories
that motivate/inspires you. Empowering words, art or books that speak to you should surround you.
5. Create a home for everything!
Everything has a place and everything in its place. Nothing kills the working mind like not knowing where things are and having things in your space that don’t belong, like your kids smelling shoes 🥴 or those life threatening LEGO’s 😩. If it has a function in your space keep it, if not remove it!
Bonus:
Set your intentions for the space. Speak it, write it, live it! Everything is all about mindset, your thoughts and the emotions you want to feel. So whatever you seek to achieve in your space set the intent, think the positive thoughts and write it down! Let it be written, let it be done! Take time daily to write out your intentions for your day in every area of your life and reflect back on them when you seem to lose site or focus!
So, tell me is your space keeping your from staying focused and achieving any goals?
If so, let me know one thing you would like to change about your space today!!👇🏽
