🏡 HOMEOWNERS! 🏡
Don’t forget to file your Homestead Exemption!!!
If you own and live in your home as your primary residence, you can lower your property taxes with a Homestead Exemption — and it’s completely FREE to file yourself.
✅ The home must be your primary residence
✅ The owner must be an individual (not a corporation or business entity)
✅ You must occupy it as of January 1st of the tax year
✅ Your driver’s license should match the property address
You can easily file for your homestead exemption yourself through your county appraisal district.
This applies to other valuable exemptions too, like Over-65, Disabled Veteran, and Disability exemptions.
New homeowners especially — your exemption is not automatic. Many people miss it and overpay on their taxes for years.
Here’s what to do:
1. Update your driver’s license to your new address
2. Visit your county appraisal district website or in person.
3. Submit the simple Homestead Exemption form
Protect your money and lower your taxes the smart (and free) way!
