Attn: Spotsylvania County residents
NOTICE: Spotsylvania County is discontinuing the acceptance of brush, grass clippings, and leaves at the Chancellor Convenience Center, located at 5917 Harrison Road effective January 15, 2025. Staff apologizes for any inconvenience to our residential customers. The new policy addresses the inability of the site to effectively manage incoming volume due to its size limitations and close proximity to public areas.
Residents have three options to dispose of brush, leaves, and grass at Spotsylvania County facilities:
1. Berkeley Landfill located at 6043 Stanfield Road, Spotsylvania. This facility accepts brush, leaves, and grass delivered in residential vehicles and single axle trailers at no charge. Commercial-style vehicles and tandem (2 or more) axle trailers are prohibited.
2. Livingston Landfill located at 6241 Massey Road, Spotsylvania. This facility accepts brush, leaves, and grass delivered in residential vehicles and single axle trailers at no charge. Commercial, commercial-style vehicles and tandem (2 or more) axle trailers will be weighed, fees may apply.
3. Bagged Yard Waste: Bagged leaves and grass may be disposed of with regular trash as long as the material is placed within paper or biodegradable plastic bags designed for yard waste disposal. These items are available online and in local hardware stores. Those with private trash service should contact their haulers for disposal recommendations.
