I attended school in the highly-rated Clear Creek Independent School District and played high school football for the Clear Lake Falcons. After graduation, I attended the University of North Texas and the University of Houston - Clear Lake. After graduating from college, I served the mortgage servicing industry for 23 years in property tax and flood certification services. If you ever hear someone in Seattle say “The mountain is out!”, they’re talking about Mount Rainier. Even though it’s more than 14,000 feet tall, clouds hide it so often that when it finally appears, it’s something people actually celebrate.

Whether you’re moving next month or years from now, here’s one moving-day expense that’s easy to overlook… Gratuity for the movers.

Tipping isn’t required, but many people choose to tip when they’ve received great service. If you’d like to, it’s one of those expenses that’s easier to handle if you’ve planned for it ahead of time. The size of the move and the quality of the service can help guide your decision.

And if tipping isn’t in your budget, remember there are other thoughtful ways to show appreciation, like offering cold bottled water, saying a sincere thank-you, or leaving a positive online review.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness are remembered the longest.

Here is this week’s market update for the Clear Lake Area, Friendswood, and League City in the Houston Bay Area.

This week’s numbers show the market remains active. Sales across the area increased, and buyer activity continues to show they’re taking their time to make their decision.

📍 Clear Lake Area — New listings and sales were both up this week, while inventory remained about the same (283 vs 284). The average days on market rose to 63, further showing that Buyers are taking more time to evaluate their options. The market continues to move though.

📍 Friendswood — The Friendswood market remained steady. New listings and inventory held relatively steady, while sales increased (17 vs 27). Homes took a little less time to sell with days on market decreasing from 55 to 43. Buyers continue to take their time to find their next home.

📍 League City — New listings increased and inventory decreased a little, while sales remained relatively steady (23 vs 27). Average days on market decreased by almost 20 days (51 vs 34). Buyers continue to take their time. We will see if the market continues to pick up next week.

The “real estate novelist” in Piano Man wasn’t actually a novelist. Billy Joel made up the job title for the song, but the character was inspired by a real person named Paul — who really was a real estate agent!

Imagine your house being hit by a meteorite… then having it happen again… and again!

According to reports, a homeowner in Bosnia claimed his home was struck six times over several years. Instead of moving, he reinforced his roof with a steel girder and even created a meteorite museum in his backyard.

I guess when life gives you meteorites… you build a museum. 😄

Quick question. If a pipe suddenly burst in your home, would you know exactly where to shut the water off? Your home’s main water shutoff valve is something most of us rarely think about — until we need it.

A good habit is to turn the valve off and back on once or twice a year — or even every few months to help prevent it from becoming stuck due to corrosion or mineral buildup.

If it feels stuck, don’t force it. That’s a good time to have it looked at (and replaced if necessary) before an emergency happens.

Hopefully you’ll never need it, but if you do, you’ll be glad you knew where your valve is and that it worked.

Here is this week’s market update for the Clear Lake Area, Friendswood, and League City in the Houston Bay Area.

One week never defines a market. This week’s numbers suggest buyers are still active. Well-priced homes continue to attract attention, while inventory across the area remains relatively stable.

📍 Clear Lake Area — New listings and sales both increased this week, while the average days on market dropped to 35 days. Inventory remained steady, suggesting buyers are keeping pace with many of the new listings coming to market.

📍 Friendswood — Inventory changed very little, but sales increased and homes sold more quickly than last week. That’s another reminder that properly priced homes continue to find buyers.

📍 League City — Sales rebounded this week while inventory remained remarkably consistent. Average days on market increased, reinforcing that buyers still have choices and are taking time to make informed decisions.

When people think about what makes a house special, they often think about the kitchen, the backyard, or maybe even a swimming pool. But sometimes it’s not the feature itself… It’s what happens because of it.

After losing his wife of 66 years, retired judge Keith Davison built a swimming pool at age 94 — not for himself, but for the neighborhood children and their families. Before long, his backyard became the neighborhood gathering place.

Six years later, those same families celebrated his 100th birthday together. It’s a wonderful reminder that a house becomes a home through the lives and memories shared there.
