🚨 TO CATCH A FRAUDSTER: THE SELLER WHO WASN’T THE SELLER

Today, an agent called me and said something I hear more often than you’d think:

“Heather… something about this seller just doesn’t feel right.”

Nothing she could necessarily put her finger on. Just a gut feeling.

So we started digging. 🔎

We researched the property. Checked the ownership history. Followed the records. And eventually, we located the actual owner of the property.

There was just one problem…

😳 THE ACTUAL OWNER WASN’T SELLING.

Someone was representing themselves as the owner of a property they apparently did not own.

Think about that for a second.

Without that agent trusting her instincts — and without someone taking the time to investigate — how far could that transaction have gone?

THIS is why seller identity verification matters.

Fraud doesn’t always come with an obvious red flag. Sometimes the emails look normal. The documents look legitimate. The “seller” knows the right information.

Sometimes the only red flag is that little voice saying:

Something isn’t right.

Thankfully, this agent listened to hers. And she called us. 👑
