I was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico, I never imagined that one day I’d be living in Galveston, Texas, running a business, and living life on my own terms. 🇵🇷
Growing up, my parents taught us to value education, hard work, and integrity. But the path always seemed very traditional: go to school, get a job, keep your head down, work until retirement. Owning a business? That wasn’t even on the radar. And yet, here I am.
Being Hispanic and a member of the LGBTQ community as a professional hasn’t been without challenges. In my early career in oil and gas, traveling across the U.S., I had to work twice as hard to be taken seriously and afforded a similar level of respect to that of my colleagues. And stepping into entrepreneurship meant navigating new obstacles while learning to stand firm in who I am. But every challenge became fuel. Every moment of doubt became a reminder of why representation matters.
Because here’s what I’ve learned: when you’re comfortable in your own skin, it’s easier to connect with others. And that connection is everything; in business, in real estate, in staging, in life. People gravitate toward authenticity, warmth, and respect. Those are values my culture instilled in me, and they show up in my work every day.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, I’m proud to honor where I come from, the traditions that shaped me, and the opportunity to bring that spirit into everything I do. With MDC, I’m even prouder to celebrate inclusion, diversity, and the shared values that remind us that success is about more than just results; it’s about relationships, resilience, and showing up as your authentic self.
Here’s to perseverance, professionalism, and passion. Here’s to visibility. And here’s to honoring the cultures that shape us and the communities we serve.
