📍 Galveston’s Best Kept Secret: Beach Access 1A

If you’ve ever headed to the island only to find the Seawall or your usual spot completely packed, you’ll want to save this post.

Most people drive right past this access point without realizing it’s there. Tucked right in between The Preserve at Grand Beach and the site of the upcoming Margaritaville, this stretch offers a much quieter, more secluded vibe.

The long boardwalk takes you right over the dunes to a wide-open shoreline where you actually have room to breathe. It’s the perfect "plan B" that usually ends up becoming a new favorite.

Next time the crowds are thick, keep heading east—your private piece of the island is waiting.

Happy World Book Day! There is something about the rhythm of the water that makes a good story even better.

Whether you are tucked away on a quiet stretch of the beach, watching the tide come in on the bay, or lounging by a canal on the West End, the island offers endless spots to get lost in a book. With the sun out and a light breeze off the Gulf, it’s the perfect day to find a local corner, slow down, and just read.

Grab your favorite read, find a spot by the water, and enjoy the peace.

📍 The Edge of the Island: Galveston’s Furthest East Point

🌊 If you want to get as far East as possible on Galveston Island, this is it!

To find this secluded stretch, just drive all the way through the East Beach parking lot until the sand opens up. This is where the Gulf meets the Galveston Ship Channel, and it offers a perspective of the island you just can’t get anywhere else.

🚢 Ship Watcher’s Paradise:
This is the ultimate "front row seat." You can walk right out toward the jetty for the closest possible views of the massive vessels moving in and out of the port.

Missed Fleet Week? This would have been the absolute best spot on the island to watch the fleet come in!

Cruise Fans: With cruise ships moving through the channel multiple days a week, this is your go-to location to catch those iconic "bon voyage" shots or wave to the passengers heading out to sea.

🚶‍♂️ Whether you’re here for a quiet walk on the wide-open sand or to marvel at the scale of the tankers and cruise boats, the furthest East point of the island is a must-visit.

🏝️ There is nothing quite like the wide-open views at East Beach! If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to head down, the recent rain has done us a huge favor—it has packed down the sand beautifully, making it the perfect surface for a long beach walk or setting up your spot for the day.

🐦 We caught this massive flock of gulls enjoying the peace and quiet today. One of the best parts about hanging out at the East Beach parking area is the incredible vantage point. While the birds take over the shoreline, you can look out toward the horizon and watch the massive ships and tankers navigating the channel from Galveston Bay out to the Gulf. 🚢

☀️ With a sunny weekend on the horizon, now is the time to start mapping out your trip. Whether you're here for the ship watching, the birding, or just to soak up the salt air, East Beach is calling!
