4-8-26 Meeting Minutes

On March 3rd, the Governor signed Indiana House Bill 1152. This bill goes into effect July 1st, 2026, and specifies that a homeowners association may not prohibit or restrict a person from operating a Class I child care home or providing certain child care if the person resides within and owns, rents, or leases the single family residence where child care services are provided.

The Heritage Estates HOA will comply with this new state law. I personally agree with the lawmakers that this will help address childcare access and affordability for Hoosiers. If you have any questions, feel free to email us or ask at the next HOA meeting in April.

HOA Dues are now due. You have until March 31st, but why not pay them now? They are still $150, and the check or money order can be made out to:

Please remember to select $0 when giving extra money to Zeffy. They try to sneak in an additional donation to their site for providing this service to us free of charge.

The HOA dues go to maintaining our subdivision - paying for street lights, mowing, and both ponds maintenance.

Any payments after March 31st are deemed late and a late fee will be assessed. Here's to another great year at Heritage Estates!

I received a message from our post office delivery person. They asked if everyone could make sure your paths are shoveled for the post office employees so they can deliver packages more safely. He also asked that we clean the snow piles around the mailboxes if able. The plows push a lot of snow in front of them, making it harder to deliver.

Reminder that if you have a trash can on the side of your house, it must be behind a privacy screen. Trash cans cannot be on the front of your house either.

Per covenants and Garrett city code, trailers are not allowed in your yard. The HOA covenants do not allow them in your driveway either.

Enforcement will be checked soon. Just FYI.

Meeting minutes October 2025
There were no nominations against the officers, so the same team will be in place for 2026. I am excited to work with them and strengthen our core even more this year!
Also note that we had an anonymous gifter of a $50 Amazon gift card for the best Christmas decorations this year!! While the officers can decorate too, they are not allowed to be in the running for the gift card. They can still vote in it though. I have abstained from voting in it (unless there is a tie I suppose), but I hope everyone decorates! I can't wait to see all the fun decorations.

Personal pools or trampolines cannot be placed on HOA common areas. It would skyrocket the HOA's insurance, and be a huge liability if someone was injured or worse. If they are placed on the common area, they will be removed. If you would like to set up a volleyball net or soccer goals, feel free to, but please take them down after you are done.

Next HOA Meeting is October 8th at 6:30pm (Garrett Library 2nd floor). This meeting will include self-nominations for anyone wanting to run against any current officers. The agenda will be posted soon. As usual, all meetings will be respectful. We want people to show up and have a good time, not watch a drama-fest. Please come out if you are able. (Copy for website)
