VILLAGE ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Road construction is nearing completion for the season, and we sincerely thank residents and businesses for your continued patience. Below is a summary of the remaining tasks:

Main Street Sidewalk: Asphalt patching, turf restoration, and traffic control removal.

Wagon Trail Road: Fire hydrant adjustment, surface asphalt layer, and traffic control removal.

Catie Vista Subdivision: Surface asphalt layer, turf restoration, and traffic control removal.

Pleasant View Road: Center and edge line striping.

Rockfield Road: Shoulder restoration following recent storm impacts.

Germantown Community Library: Asphalt patching, turf restoration, and traffic control removal.

High Point Pass: Curb and gutter installation, asphalt paving, street lighting, and traffic control.

Maple Road: Work is complete.

All of this work is managed under a single low-bid public construction contract, as required by State statutes. Managing multiple locations under one contract allows for more efficient scheduling and typically reduces overall costs.

It’s common for contractors to send out crews specialized in one task (like asphalt paving) only when all project areas are ready. After that task is done, another specialized crew is scheduled once all sites are ready for their work—this helps maintain progress across the board without unnecessary delays or remobilizations.

The Village will continue to evaluate ways to improve project control and delivery timelines while keeping costs low. This has been a challenging and historic construction season due to the volume of work underway. We recognize the inconvenience and are committed to improving how future projects are delivered to minimize impacts to residents and businesses.

The end result will be significantly improved infrastructure for our community. Thank you again for your patience and support!

County Executive Josh Schoemann welcomed the FEMA team to Washington County this morning as they began their damage assessments. He spoke with residents at some of the affected homes. Many were grateful for the no-fee dumpsters the county has set up at 400 University Drive through Monday, Aug. 25 at sundown.
Schoemann said, “My heart goes out to all those affected by the flood. It’s nice to see the city, county, state and Feds all working together to help. We appreciate the community’s patience as we get through this necessary step toward a determination for federal aid.”

COUNTY LINE ROAD UPDATE
The flood waters on the south end of the Village are receding, and Village and County teams are working to re-open County Line Road near the Menomonie River. Once the floodwaters have completely receded, debris and equipment must be cleaned up, and the road must be inspected for safety. County Line Road should be fully re-opened by Friday afternoon.
