I asked a guy who has traveled the world why he stays in Gillette. His answer was about YOU. 🤝

Shay said it comes from leaving. When you have seen enough of other places, you start to see what you actually have at home. And what he kept coming back to was the people here. He said he would put Gillette folks up against anywhere he has been.

Blaine and I have competed from Poland to Dubai. Iceland, Denmark, Germany. I feel that exact same way literally every time we land back in Wyoming!

Then Shay got to the part I have not stopped thinking about. He brought up his kids, and what this town has to look like 20 years from now for them to be able to stay.

That part is worth the watch.

A few weeks ago I ran into Shay Lundvall and we got to talking about Gillette. I have known him a long time. We were talking about Gillette, how it's grown over the last 10 years, and he just was so passionate and excited!

I told him he needed to say all of that on camera... so Gillette could see it. He said yes.

So we sat down for fifty minutes. It is not really a formal interview. It is mostly two people who chose the same town, talking about why.

Some of you know Shay as the mayor. Some of you know him from the gym, or from S&S, or because your kids play sports together. Some of you only know me. What I wanted was for everybody to see the version I get to see. The guy who talks about his dad giving thirty-five years to Black Thunder coal mine. The guy who says the thing he is proudest of has nothing to do with getting his name on a plaque.

I asked him the hard stuff too, the things I know you all want to hear. The nuclear questions everyone has been going back and forth about on here, and the closed-door accusations. He did not dodge any of it.

And I will say plainly what most of you already know. Shay is my friend and I support him. That is exactly why I felt like I could ask him the questions people actually ask me about this town.

Part two comes out August 20th and it goes further into his life as Mayor, family, Lindsey, and a scary accident most people around here have never heard about.

In this day and age, almost everyone has cameras in and around their home - security cameras, ring doorbells, baby monitors, shoot…they now even make video cameras on bird feeders to watch the birds!

So when touring a home, you can almost always assume there may be ways the sellers can be watching and listening. Yes, the seller should disclose the presence of any recording device, but even if they forget or choose not to, as the buyer, you should be aware of the potential risk.

My advice for buyers? Wait until you’re outside and far away from doorbell cameras; especially before discussing what you like, dislike, or what you’d be willing to offer. You don’t want to forfeit any negotiating power you may have by letting the seller know everything you think about the home!

It’s important to choose an agent who notices new technology trends and protects you through the process!
