💁‍♂️Pro Tip: Clean fields start with clean equipment.

Did you know that many of the w**ds and non-desirable grasses make their way into your fields on your own equipment?

Controlling cross-contamination between fields is critical when it comes to maintaining clean hay fields and pastures.

Weeds can hitch a ride on mowers, balers, tractors, trucks, side-by-sides, and even livestock.

When it comes to our own hay operation, Precision Baling utilizes a commercial air compressor to blow trash and w**d seeds from all the little nooks and crannies of our hay equipment when switching fields.

Today, we scaled down even further to spray a small parking / storage area around our main office in Gilliam.

We swapped out our “boomless” setup on the back of our Gator for a 13 ft folding boom.

A lot of the products we spray can tolerate some overlap, and often times it’s even encouraged to prevent striping.

On the flip side, some low use rate herbicides can actually damage target areas when you overlap too much and double the application rate.

We switched to booms because we are testing a new process called chemical mowing.

Chemical mowing is a process in which you use labeled herbicides (plant growth regulators) to stunt certain grasses , and reduce mowing requirements.

There is a very fine line between controlling grass and eliminating it if you have too much overlap and double the application rate.

This is just one of many examples when pinpoint accuracy is key.
