Time for a history lesson. Anytime someone uses the phrase "plain vanilla," as if it somehow means boring or unoriginal, I kind of laugh to myself. Apparently, most don't know the real history of vanilla.

For starters, it's the second most expensive spice in the world ( #1 is saffron). Vanilla is the only edible fruit out of 35,000 species of orchid. Frankly, it's a statistical miracle. It requires a special tropical climate to grow, and each flower blooms for, wait for it... one day.

Pound for pound, vanilla seeds are worth more than silver.

Historically, only kings could afford such a rare delicacy as vanilla.

Not to mention the invention of ice cream itself, which would have required sending an expedition to the mountains to bring back ice during a hot summer. And yet here I am, casually enjoying this frozen dessert flavored with one of the most miraculous spices in the world. 🍦

You may call it "plain vanilla." I call it a miracle.

Modern life is pretty amazing if you have an attitude of gratitude. 🙂

This is true- fact-check me!

I don’t just hammer a sign in the yard and call it a day.

And honestly, you shouldn’t hire an agent whose only approach is that.

🛑 I need to ask for your help! 🛑
I have 7 families who are looking in the Glencoe area for a new home. Here’s what they’re looking for:

1. Single buyer looking for a smaller 2+ bed home in Cokato, Howard Lake, Montrose, along Hwy 12, one of those areas, with at least a 2+ car garage for a truck and boat. Under $300K. ASAP.

2. Couple looking for their first single family detached home with at least a 2+ car garage attached, with a minimum of 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. Need to be able to put a piano somewhere on the main floor. A yard is needed. Doesn’t need to be huge. Under $350K.

3. Looking for a home in the Winthrop area with at least 2-3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a garage (doesn’t need to be attached). Any beautiful woodwork or built-ins is a plus! Not looking for a fast, crappy flip. Up to $250K.

4. Couple looking for something on the outskirts of town somewhere between New Ulm/Hutch/Arlington/Winthrop area. Not in the city limits. Needs to have a large garage, or at least a 30x40 detached garage/shop. 2+ bedrooms, 2+ bathrooms. $500K or less.

5. Looking for a home for first-time home buyers. 2-3 bedrooms, 1-2 bathrooms, not 100% on price, thinking around $250K.

6. Looking for a home in Mankato or North Mankato under $275K with at least 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Need large closets! Doesn’t need a garage.

7. Country property around NYA or Glencoe with at least 2-acres, large kitchen, 3-4 bedrooms, 2-3 baths, needs to have storage. Area for a salon would be a plus - not mandatory. Under $500K.
