Yep.

Today was… memorable. 😅

My DJI Mavic Air 3 met its end today after being attacked by a bald eagle.

Before anyone asks, yes, the eagle won.

The good news is the eagle appeared to fly away completely unharmed. The bad news is my drone now looks like it lost a fight with a wood chipper.

Oddly enough, this Air 3 has been my favorite drone I’ve ever owned. It captured countless farms, ranches, acreages, and sunsets, and it earned its keep many times over. I’m genuinely going to miss this one.

This also marks drone number five to meet an untimely demise over the past 8+ years. When you spend as much time in the air as I do, eventually you’re going to lose a few. Honestly, five in eight years isn’t the worst batting average.

Now I’m debating whether this is tragic enough to justify a GoFundMe… or if I should just accept that I donated one very expensive chew toy to America’s national bird. 😂

Rest in pieces, little buddy. You served Ironhorse well.

Thank you to everyone who reached out with birthday wishes. I appreciate it more than you know.

Being born near the 4th of July, it probably makes sense that Independence Day has always been my favorite holiday. It is a day to be grateful for freedom, family, opportunity, and the people who built and defended this country.

Happy 4th of July, and happy 250th birthday to America. We live in the greatest country in the world, and I am thankful every day to call it home. 🇺🇸
