Buying a home in North Hills was the American Dream in the 1950s. Meeting personally someone who lived it was a bit of a culture shock I have to admit. In a span of 20 minutes they told me their life story that was at the time considered the American Dream and they excited it I’m sure with their ups and downs to a T.
The real inspiration came to how they managed to be married for 75 years and still looked very happy together. Of course paid their home, worked, raised 2 kids and retired with a pension to live from is all also inspiring.
Buying their first home in their early 20s was also impressive as now in these days 1 income won’t buy you a home here in the sf valley like this anymore.
