Happy fishing opener tomorrow! Unfortunately... Conditions are not favorable for an enjoyable weekend. Between ice coverage and chilly weather, fishing will be tough!

For those who find open lakes, we'll see a mix of clouds and sun, with breezy north winds gusting to 25 mph. We definitely could see some whitecaps on the larger inland lakes! Temps will max out in the upper 40s north to the mid 50s south! We may even see a few wintry showers along the Canadian border!

Thankfully, temps are forecast to warm into the 50s and 60s by the end of next week!

A rainy period will kick off tomorrow afternoon and last into Friday! We may see storm activity increase tonight, with the primary areas affected being the tip of the arrowhead. The chances for tonight are 50/50 right now. This activity will push off to the east rather quickly, with at least a partial clearing expected for some by Thursday morning. Winds will be gusty out of the south, up to 40 mph at times. By late afternoon, a slow-moving cold front will kick off a second, more potent round of thunderstorms. There is a marginal (1/5 ) risk for severe weather during the late afternoon and evening hours. The main risk seems to be damaging winds, thanks to the evolution of the storms being linear rather than cellular. That being said, there is still a non-zero hail and tornado risk.

As the front progresses east into the early morning on Friday, it will temporarily stall somewhere near the international border, raising the risk for flooding in that area.

By the time precip wraps up, areas of northeastern Wisconsin and the tip of the arrowhead will see 1-3” of rain.

The system spins up north through the weekend, leading the way for our next shot at rain Monday night.
