Recently, I had the opportunity to hear Dr. Deirdre Pilch, Superintendent of Greeley-Evans School District 6, speak at a Realtors lunch.
As a Realtor®, I get asked by families about schools all the time. So I wanted to dig a little deeper into what D6 actually offers and there were a few things that really stood out to me.
🎓 College credit BEFORE you graduate high school.
Through Concurrent Enrollment, eligible D6 students can take college courses while still in high school.

🔹 Agriculture
🔹 Construction & Electrical
🔹 Welding
🔹 Cosmetology
🔹 Healthcare
🔹 Business & Marketing
🔹 Culinary Arts
🔹 Public Safety
🔹 Teacher Education
🔹 Manufacturing
🔹 And more
D6 currently covers tuition, books AND fees for eligible concurrent enrollment courses! That's a pretty incredible head start! Early College Academy takes it even further. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credits and an Associate of Arts degree through Aims Community College while completing high school.
So when you look at the flyer I'm sharing and notice ECA has very few AP Scholars compared with some of the other high schools, don't let that number fool you! Their model is simply different students are focused heavily on actual college coursework through Aims rather than primarily taking AP exams.
🛠️ But college isn't the only path D6 is investing in. Students can explore hands on career pathways, earn industry certifications with the certification costs and program supplies covered, and gain experience in fields like welding, electrical, cybersecurity, cosmetology, healthcare, agriculture and more. And something else I thought was really cool: D6 even connects qualifying high school students with paid summer internships at Northern Colorado businesses and organizations. Real work experience before graduating high school!
As a Greeley Central graduate and now a local Realtor®, I genuinely enjoy learning more about what's available to students today. Because when families ask me, “What is it like to raise a family in Greeley or Evans?” the answer is about so much more than the house.
It's the schools.
It's the opportunities.
It's the community. ❤️
The D6 Highlights & Achievements flyer I'm sharing shows some of the progress happening across the district, but I think the opportunities behind those numbers are just as important. I'm proud to be a D6 graduate, proud to live and work in this community, and proud to be someone my clients can come to for a local perspective on Greeley and Evans. 🏡
