My kind of solar technology.

My kind of solar technology.

Japan just developed a solar panel thin enough to print directly onto window glass — a transparent photovoltaic film that converts sunlight into electricity while remaining clear enough to see through, transforming every glass surface in a building into a simultaneous window and power generator.

Researchers at Kyushu University developed a perovskite photovoltaic ink applied to glass through standard inkjet printing, forming a solar cell layer 200 nanometers thick after drying and UV curing. The printed cell achieves 15.3 percent power conversion efficiency while maintaining 72 percent visible light transmission, allowing natural daylight through clearly while converting absorbed ultraviolet and near-infrared wavelengths into electricity. A standard 1.5-square-meter window panel generates 180 watts under full Japanese sunshine.

Commercial buildings in Japan use 40 to 60 percent of their exterior area as glass. Converting all commercial glass in Tokyo's central business district alone would generate 4,200 megawatts of peak electricity from surfaces already installed and maintained for other purposes.

The Carolina Core is quickly becoming one of the Southeast’s most dynamic growth corridors — stretching from Greensboro and Winston-Salem to High Point and surrounding communities. Fueled by advanced manufacturing, aerospace, EV technology, semiconductors, logistics, and life sciences, the region is attracting billions in investment and thousands of new jobs.
Communities throughout the region are investing in infrastructure, workforce development, and quality of life to support long-term growth while maintaining the affordability and livability that continue attracting families, entrepreneurs, and major employers alike.
For businesses, job seekers, and families looking for opportunity without the costs of larger coastal markets, the Carolina Core is positioning itself as one of America’s fastest-rising regions.
Check out the More in the Core website for more information.

The Carolina Core’s shorter commutes, tremendous economic momentum and world-class, yet lower cost amenities make it a hub for young, engaged professionals.

Love this!

American house styles are easier to read when you know what to look for.

From the compact Cape Cod and symmetrical Colonial to the mansard roof of Second Empire, the half-timbering of Tudor Revival, and the low horizontal lines of Prairie and Ranch homes — each style has a visual language of its own.

Roof shape, windows, entryways, porches, and ornament often reveal the period and influence behind a house long before you know its history.
