NCREC Instructor Conference Takeaways
We recently attended the North Carolina Real Estate Commission's Spring Instructor Conference, where real estate educators from across the state receive updates directly from the Commission. As instructors, we receive updates on rule changes, industry trends, and compliance issues the Commission is seeing across North Carolina. We wanted to share a few takeaways that may be helpful for brokers.
Complaints
Declined during the COVID years but have started increasing again. Some of the categories discussed included:
• Unauthorized property access
• Fraudulent sellers
• Professional conduct violations
Recent rule updates
• License renewal fee increased to $50
• New voluntary license cancellation option created
• Updated definition of principal office
• Camera requirement for synchronous learning classes
Offer to Purchase changes
The standard Offer to Purchase contract has removed the requirement for:
• Buyer loan information disclosure
Disclosure updates
• Updates to the RPOADS disclosure form
Proposed rule change being discussed – BIC Span of Control
A BIC of a principal office may potentially supervise branch offices if:
• Offices are within 50 miles
• No more than 100 affiliated brokers
• The BIC resides in North Carolina
These are just a few highlights — there was much more discussed at the conference. If you're interested in learning more about these updates or how they may impact your practice, feel free to reach out.
And if you still need Continuing Education before the June 10 renewal deadline, we’re offering CE classes through Dream Builders Academy. We always try to go beyond the basics and discuss real-world issues brokers are facing in the field. www.dbacademyll.com
Always happy to be a resource for fellow brokers.
