☀️ THE VACATION RENTAL INDUSTRY IS CHANGING — AND WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! 🏖️
I've been an Airbnb host since 2017 and have proudly maintained Superhost status. Over the years, I've worked hard to build SunnySide Up Rentals into a business that provides families with beautiful, comfortable places to make memories along Alabama's Gulf Coast.
But I want to share something that many travelers may not realize.
The vacation rental industry is becoming increasingly difficult for independent owners and small property management companies.
Platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo helped many of us grow our businesses, and I'm grateful for that. But with increasing fees, changing policies, and more restrictions on how we manage our own properties, it's becoming harder for owners to operate.

We should be able to display checkout instructions, communicate our house rules, and manage our properties consistently for ALL guests, regardless of where they booked.
We aren't large hotel corporations. We're small business owners who invest our time, money, and energy into providing wonderful vacation experiences.

When you reserve a vacation rental through a third-party platform, a portion of what you pay goes toward platform fees.
Those fees affect both guests and property owners. And as operating costs continue to rise — insurance, HOA fees, maintenance, cleaning, taxes, and more — every dollar matters.
