Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) requirement officially went into effect on March 1, 2026. It’s being called the Residential Real Estate Reporting Rule, and its goal is to increase transparency and combat money-laundering risks in certain home purchases. FinCEN Update – Effective Now (March 1, 2026)

• Applies to all-cash residential purchases
• Buyer must be an LLC, corporation, or trust
• Covers 1–4 unit homes, condos, and residential land
• Closing agent/title company files the report
• Requires disclosure of the true beneficial owners
• Must be filed within 30 days of closing
• Personal purchases with a traditional mortgage = typically not affected
• Purpose: increase transparency & prevent money laundering
