Patience pays off, friends!

My Alabama folks…. I know we have rain in the forecast, and fall seems to be whispering to us from around the corner…but please do not rally the troops and break out the tractors and spreaders just yet. It’s painfully tempting to plant fall food plots as soon as we hear the word “rain” or a temperature flirting below 80°, but these are false securities meant to test your own willpower. We historically see a major drought and army worm infestations during the transition from September to October, and every year, food plots fail because we were too impatient. We will soon be in the comforts of true fall, but until then, don’t waste your time, money, or fuel ($6/gal for diesel are you kidding me??) until it’s safe to do so. Be strong my friends.

On properties where it’s just not possible to get a timber thinning done in certain areas, a lot can be done with a skid steer and mulching head. This property needed the roadsides cleaned up and some better habitat around the existing food plots- and the mulcher saves the day. Now we can release the mature timber and get more sunlight on the ground to provide better habitat for wildlife.

Today I was at a closing table for a land sale, but this time it was my family and I signing the paperwork. We have prayed hard and searched for the right time and place to teach our son about land ownership and stewardship, and we finally made it happen.

Shoutout to my colleague Matt Brock at Tutt Land Company for the assistance on this one. I’m probably not the easiest client to work with (🤣), but he, closing attorney Zack Freeman, and lender Kevin Stone were a rockstar team to work with. I’m not bluffing when I say it’s a great time to buy land!
