Selling & Holiday Decor
-
The holidays are here, and so are the lights, garland, and all the festive décor we love! 🎄✨
-
But if your home is on the market, it’s important to strike the right balance between cozy holiday charm and showcasing your home’s best features.
-
🥳 Good news... YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY DECORATE!
Just keep it minimal and intentional. Think small splashes of holiday cheer rather than your full holiday display.
-
A FEW IDEAS:
• Swap in festive throw pillows or a cozy holiday blanket.
• Add a simple, well-styled arrangement on your kitchen island or coffee table.
• Skip the tree if it makes your space feel tight or forces furniture into awkward positions—buyers need to see the room, not navigate around it.
-
If you’re like me and love going all-out for the season, consider dialing it back to about 10–15% of your usual décor. It keeps the focus on your home, not the decorations.
-
🏠 WHAT ABOUT THE EXTERIOR?
Leave the inflatable turkeys, elves, and snowmen in storage this year. While fun, they can distract from curb appeal. Instead, opt for something classic and clean, like a winter greenery pot or a simple wreath by the front door.
-
If you hang lights on the exterior of your home, when selling, make sure there aren't extra cords and the end of the strand strung along the side. Your home should look good during the day and at night to keep its exterior ready for buyers.
-
When selling, less is more. Just enough holiday warmth to make buyers feel welcome, without overwhelming the space.
